Trainings for mayors, Council of the Elders members and for municipal officials

On March 26-27 in Yerevan will be held trainings for mayors, Council of the Elders members and for municipal officials. The trainings will be held in the framework of the project called “Collaboration towards sustainable development of cities - Common Challenges, Common Solutions” implemented by Union of Communities of Armenia with financial support of Visegrad Fund.

The project partners are Związek Miast Polskich, Union of Towns and Cities of Slovakia, Települési Önkormányzatok Országos Szövetsége, Rádlo municipality.

The training will be held in 4 groups. The training topicts are the following: Smart and Innovative cities, especially towards carbon-neutral development, Promoting the sustainable development of the communities, Challenges we are facing in urban areas (climate change impact and resilience), Good examples and best practices. It is crucial to provide capacity building activities for local stakeholders in order to prepare them for international cooperation relations, e.g. by improving municipalities` knowledge about EU policies to improve awareness about opportunities and challenges, as well as the understanding of European legislation. Lobbying and networking make it easier to apply for funds and influence decisions; local authorities networking should thus be facilitated by this project.

The aim of “Collaboration towards sustainable development of cities - Common Challenges, Common Solutions” project is to assist the communities in developing staff capacities, to contribute to the exchange of experience between the communities of Armenia and V4 countries, to promote cooperation between associations and municipalities based on the exchange of expertise, to support the development of clever cities using successful experience of V4 countries.
