Online ceremony for awarding winners of competitions organized in the framework of the European Sustainable Energy Week in Armenia

On July 30, 2020, an online ceremony of awarding the winners of four competitions organized by the EC ′′ Agreement of Mayors-East ′′ project in Armenia within the framework of the European Sustainable Energy Week in Armenia was held.

The event was attended by Mr. Andrea Bajioli, Mr. Emin Yeritsyan, Chairman of the Association of Communities of Armenia, Ms. Tatyana Derevyankina, Communication Manager of the EC project ′′ Mayor s' Agreement ′′ East ", Mr. Karen Bakoyan, Head of Local Self-Government Coordination Department of the Ministry of Territorial Management and Infrastructure of Armenia (Agreement Coordinator), Ms. Asthine Pasoyan, Director of the Energy Saving Fund (Supporter of the Agreement), as well as local authorities and city residents - signatories of the Mayor s' Agreement, who won competitions. In his welcoming speech, Mr. Andrea Bajioli stressed the importance of Armenian municipalities participation in the Mayor s' Agreement and European Sustainable Energy Week initiative. ′′ A record number of Armenian cities took part in the European Sustainable Energy Week in Armenia in 2020, with youth representatives being the most active participants of events and competitions said Mr. Badgioli. - Fifteen municipalities, including thirteen mayors signatories and two potential signatories, held about 30 online events, including thematic webinars and quizzes, drawing contests, photos, videos and essays, and developed video materials ". Mr. Bajioli also stressed that by participating in the Week and organizing local energy days, the signing of the Agreement meets one of the important commitments under the Initiative: raising awareness of citizens and stakeholders in energy efficiency, renewable energy and the link between energy consumption and climate change. ′′ By developing and implementing municipal strategies for sustainable energy and climate, as well as organizing awareness-raising events, local authorities give their citizens the opportunity to directly benefit from more reasonable use of limited energy resources and promote urban climate sustainability Mr. Bajioli said . Mr. Emin Yeritsyan, Ms. Tatyana Derevyankina, Mr. Karen Bakoyan and Ms. Asthine Pasoyan, also addressed the ceremony. During the second part of the event, Mr. Artem Kharazian, national expert of the EC ′′ Agreement of Mayors-East ′′ project in Armenia, told the participants of the ceremony about technical, information and organizational support provided by the local team of the project cities who participated in the European Sustainable Energy Week. In particular, it was about helping to register all events on the EUSEW 2020 website, the creation of the Mayor s' Agreement in Armenia on Facebook to publish instructions, announcements and messages about the organization of energy days in Armenian cities, as well as regular publication of news About the results of events and competitions held on the website and Facebook page of the project ′′ Agreement of Mayors - East ". In the final part of the ceremony, the names of 12 winners of 4 competitions organized by the EC ′′ Agreement of Mayors - East ′′ project, as well as the names of the most active organizers of the days of energy in cities were announced. The transfer of prizes and certificates will be organized in the first week of August as part of individual meetings of project representatives with city winners. The winners of the competitions expressed their gratitude to the EC ′′ Agreement of Mayors-East ′′ project for organizing events and for valuable prizes provided by the project.
