The village was founded in 1965 on the base of the evacuated population of Gnishik village in Yeghegnadzor region. The natural spring water originating in the area of the "Water Monastery" adjacent to the old village is the only source of the village's drinking water since ancient times. According to tradition, this spring water has the ability to treat skin diseases.
There are 4 monuments in the community, in commemoration of the victims of the Armenian Genocide, the victims of the Great Patriotic War, the hero of the same war Vahan Levonyan and the freedom fighters killed in the Artsakh war.
