On February 19 Union of Communities of Armenia Board session was convened.

During the Board session, the members of the Board of the Union of Communities of Armenia were presented by the results of the Union's activities in 2020, by the results of the audit of financial activities of the Union in 2017-2019 period.

The issue of forming a working group for the institutional modernization of the Union and for new strategy of the Union was discussed.

The reference was made to the draft concepts of the legislative initiatives developed by Union of Communities of Armenia during 2020 such as "Decentralization Strategy in Armenia" and "Mechanisms of consultations between the central and local authorities in Armenia" which were submitted to the Government of the Republic of Armenia.

The actual legislative, legal and political issues also were discussed during the Board session.

The members of the Board were introduced to the draft legislative amendment developed by the Union of Communities of Armenia on the expiration of the term of office of a number of community leaders and councils and the ban on holding elections in 2021 under martial law.

The members of the Board of the Union were also informed about the initiative "On Administrative-Territorial Division of the RA" and information about its progress.

The issue of restrictions of the constitutional right of a number of community leaders to be elected as a result of the June 18, 2020 amendments to the law of the Republic of Armenia on local self-government was also discussed during the Board session.

A number of organizational issues were also discussed during the Board session.
