Aghavnatun village has a millennial history in the "Glossary of Armenian and Neighboring Districts" The name Aghavnatoun is associated with the legend of the Noy Nahapet pigeon.
The history of the Aghavnatadian history shows that many historic monuments located in the village, remnants of architectural structures, the mausoleum of Gubaz 13-14, the oldest of which are Berd castle, architect T.Toromonyan claims that it has a pagan origin.
The village was rebuilt in 1825-1829. 
All the land and wealth of villagers  in 1828 was divided among  immigrant Armenians, about 200 hectares. The ancestors of the Aghavnatan residents have been engaged in vineyards, which testifies to the great find of the underground wine.
1873 Aghavnatun has been a public center with seven fields, with 102 households that have lived on state land.
