Gudrun Mosler-Törnström: “We must pursue our work for better representation of women in political and public life”

''8 March is a date of special significance for all women and also for all those who, woman or man, are fighting for greater gender equality in our societies.
As the first woman elected to the position of President of the Congress, I feel a special responsibility to take up this cause. During my mandate as President, I will place all my experience and my energy into encouraging and promoting the participation of women in political life at local and regional level,'' stated Gudrun Mosler-Törnström, President of the Congress on the occasion of the International Women’s Day, on 8 March 2017. ''This is the only possible strategy that will allow women to be present tomorrow at all levels of government. The local is the starting point,'' she concluded.
