Yerevan Mayor and President of the Union of Communities of Armenia, Tigran Avinyan, is participating, at the invitation of the Governor of Tokyo, in one of the region’s leading events in urban innovation and technology — G-NETS / SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026.

Held in Tokyo from April 27 to 29, the 3rd G-NETS Leaders Summit has brought together representatives from 49 cities across five continents, creating a platform for cooperation aimed at jointly addressing the challenges faced by modern cities. The main theme of the summit is “A New Urban Future built on Climate and Disaster Resilience,” within which discussions focus on both mitigating the impacts of climate change and improving citizens’ well-being.

G-NETS (Global City Network for Sustainability) is an international platform initiated by Tokyo, aimed at connecting cities around the world to develop sustainable models through innovation. During the summit, mayors and governors participate in thematic sessions, share best practices implemented in their cities, and jointly outline directions for future cooperation, which are summarized in a joint communiqué.

The event is held within the framework of SusHi Tech Tokyo 2026, which also includes major startup conferences, technology showcases, and public events dedicated to solutions for future cities. It brings together city leaders, policymakers, and experts, fostering concrete actions in urban planning and technological development.
