The EU Sustainable Energy Week (EUSEW) has started. It is taking place 22-26 June, 2020 under the theme: ''Beyond the crisis: clean energy for green recovery and growth''.

Armenian communities are organizing Energy days.

Because of COVID-19 it will take place in digital fromat. EUSEW brings together public authorities, private companies, NGOs and consumers to promote initiatives to save energy and move towards renewables for clean, secure and efficient power. Participants are given the opportunity to discuss how policies for renewables, energy efficiency, climate mitigation, and many others comprising the European Green Deal, can help rebuild a better and more resilient society and economy.

Union of Communities of Armenia is one of the national supporters of the project. The team of the Union and the experts team of the project in Armenia these days give the communities technical and other support to organize energy days in their communities. 

For about 40 events will be held in communities during this week: photo, video, essay, drawing contests, vebinars, quizes, clip shooting etc.

27 Armenian communities signed the Covenant. EU-funded Covenant of Mayors East project supporting cities signing up to the Covenant of Mayors – a flagship EU initiative to reduce CO2 emissions by at least 30% by 2030. It helps municipalities to prepare and implement Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans, reducing dependency on fossil fuels, improving the security of energy supply, and allowing them to contribute more actively to climate change mitigation.

The Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Armenia provided gifts for the winners of contests organized by the signatories of the Covenant of Mayors. The Delegation of the European Union in Armenia ????????, welcoming participation of the signatories of the Covenant of Mayors in Armenia in the European Sustainable Energy Week, provided gift sets for the winners of various contest and completions organized by local authorities in the framework of Energy Days.

Gift packages will be awarded to the winners of the competitions to be determined by the juries. In addition to the gift sets provided by the Delegation, the winners will also receive certificates of participation in the European Sustainable Energy Week from the EC CoM East project.
