From February 2 to 5, a high-level study visit took place in Stockholm (Sweden).

The visit was organized within the framework of the “Support to Decentralization and Local Self-Government Reforms in Armenia” (DeaLoG) program, implemented by SALAR International.

The Armenian delegation also included the Mayor of Yerevan, Tigran Avinyan.

At the start of the visit, Mayor Tigran Avinyan met at SALAR’s headquarters with Leif Sandberg, First Vice President of SALAR (the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions), Ryan Knox, Executive Director of SALAR International, and Lena Falkoni, Head of Programs at SALAR International. On the same day, at SALAR’s headquarters, the Mayor also familiarized himself with Swedish experience in education and fiscal decentralization, and participated in a discussion on the Swedish equalization system.

As part of the meetings, Tigran Avinyan had a working lunch with the Ambassador of Armenia to Sweden, Ms. Anna Aghajanyan, and also met with Karin Juhlin, State Secretary for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Sweden, at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs.

Subsequently, as part of the delegation, Tigran Avinyan visited Stockholm City Hall, met with Mayor Ole Borrelli, and toured the city hall.

On the final day of the study visit, Tigran Avinyan participated in an ознакомительный tour (introductory visit) at the Parliament of the Kingdom of Sweden.
