On 7 September 2017 Republican Council meeting of the Union of Communities of Armenia was held in "Ani" hall of Ani Plaza hotel.

The Republican Council discussed and adopted a message addressed to the RA Government on necessity of development of a new decentralisation action plan.

The Council members also discussed the provisions of proposed changes on  the right of expression of mistrust to mayors in RA Law on Local self-Government. The Union again reconfimred its disagreement to the changes proposed.

At the meeting the names and activities' framework of 6 permanent committees of the Union were confirmed.

Mr Emin Yeritysan, President of the Union, presented  the new web site of the Union to the members. By voting the members elected the Union's new logo and approved the proposal of Union's staff reorganization.

2017-2018 Draft Advocacy Strategy of the Union was presented. Within the strategy a discussion was held on the work regarding introduction of hotel tax. It was decided to hold a discussion at the end of September with participation of the competent authorities and other stakeholders.

At the end of the meeting the Council also approved the proposal to organise a forum of Local democracy on 10 November 2017. The forum will be organised in cooperation with the Ministry of Territorial Administration and Development of RA, with financial support of the Council of Europe and will be dedicated to the discussion on decentralization perspectives in Armenia.
