Administrative changes should be accompanied by decentralization of powers and financial means, community rights must be guaranteed

On May 16, the Republican Council of the Communities Association of Armenia gathered in Yerevan. 105 members of the Council and invited guests were present.

The Council of the Association has adopted proposals on the administrative-territorial changes in the Republic of Armenia and the Draft Law on Making Amendments and Addenda to the RA Law on Administrative-Territorial Division of the Republic of Armenia, which will be forwarded to the RA Ministry of Territorial Administration and Development and the Government of Armenia.

Community leaders believe that at this point it is not yet clear and there is no factual basis about the effectiveness of community consolidation. Therefore, the Union proposes to the Government of Armenia to jointly organize a professional assessment of changes in the already expanded communities.
